I once knew faeries,
I'm sure of it,
somewhere, somewhen
For I can sometimes feel
their presence even now
Oh, how I miss the magic
of their spells and mirth
Darting here and there
and everywhere in between,
playing with the sunbeams
and the glorious flowers
Such tiny and delicate reminders
of a time when we all believed in
and paid homage to playtime
I sometimes wonder whatever
happened to all of my playmates
Did they just decide that playing grownup
was more fun than playing with me,
or was it I who turned my back on them
Perhaps one day the truth will reveal itself
But in the meantime, I'm planning
to play more and work less,
for I once knew faeries,
I'm sure of it
